I'm Heather Cunnington, the lady behind the lens at Rustic Memories Photography. I am a 44 year old single mom of three beautiful children and a handsome Bull Terrier, living in gorgeous East County San Diego. I am a down-to-earth, friendly, and honest type of gal. I work full-time at our local middle school as a special education aide, teaching yearbook and photography and coaching sports. Just recently I made the decision to go back to college and get my bachelor's degree in Digital Photography. In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, going to country concerts, creating art, and traveling to unsual and abandoned places, for photography (of course).
My interest in photography began about 4 years ago when I received my first DSLR as a Christmas gift. Soon after, my father passed away from cancer and photography became a type of therapy for me. I found myself alone in very desolated locations and quickly began finding the beauty in everything surrounding me. Discovering this talent was a gift from my father! In April of 2015, I opened my own photography business in memory of him, which is why my logo consists of angel wings.
Although I will forever have this angel looking over me and all the memories to carry in my heart, the one thing I regret not having is good quality pictures with my father. It would mean so much to me to have a large canvas of him and I hanging on my wall. Or a framed picture of him and my kids before he passed away. These are moments that I cannot get back! And one thing that I can't stress enough to my clients, is the importance of having these pictures and turning them into heirlooms. Whether it's important milestones in your children's lives, the love between you and your partner, or special moments captured amongst your family- they are something you will treasure for life...
